Question Equipment for FOWLR

Hi everyone,

After 10 years I am getting a tank set up again. This is a 55g tank that had UG and 2 Whisper 3's. I am cleaning this tank up (very dirty) now. The UG was pulled out, and I have a Magnum 350 with wheels for it. I will be using CC for the base, looking at 30lbs of LR plus some dead coral decorations I have.

Is a skimmer needed? I am looking at having 2 lions in this tank.

Thanks

Well, much has changed since you last did this. The UG is out. And, CC has been somewhat out now too. This is because fine sand beds that are deep with lots of live worms and stuff is now very beneficial to your tank. Also, try and pick up a few more pounds of live rock, then no filter is needed. A small skimmer like a bak pak will round out your tank. BTW, you can mix your CC in with the finer sand, I did it and it works fine. Hope I didn't blow your budget.

To much has changed !! I always liked the filter with as much waste those lions produce. Some sand should not be a problem. I will look at a bak pak skimmer and check them out.

Thanks.
