Hi everyone
I am new to this msg board. I currently operate several fresh water tanks using wet/dry filteration. I pickup a new 125 gal tank and would like to start a salt water tank. I am new to the salt water environment and have been researching the filtration methods. I know everyone here probable gets this question a lot but what would be the best way to go? I would like to keep as much of the hardware/units inside the cabnet instead of hanging from the back of the tank. I would prefer at this time to buy the filtration instead of making one from scratch. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, Mike |

Hi Mike!
Welcome to Reefland!
Well LR (LiveRock) to me is the best natural filtration as long as you have enough of it and a good skimmer and good flow in the tank, this is my method and has been for years and it works great for me. You will find that most people in this forum tend to shy away from Wet/Dry filtration as they are great to start with but in time they just become loaded with Nitrates and this can cause problems. A good skimmer, and a good RO/DI unit will keep your tank clean. Welcome to saltwater....Careful we may have you convert this tank into a full blown reef before too long ![]()

Rocky,
Thanks again for the welcome. This message board has definitely received my attention. After looking at several websites of individuals reef tanks from this site, I am going to go full blown with it. I figure, I go all the way right the first time. Quote:
