    Drilling a Euroreef

Has anyone tried drilling their Euroreef to install a hose to dump skimmate into an external waste collector? I want to do this so I can setup the skimmer to dump into a bucket. I like to skim real wet so it's a pain to dump everyday.

    Yes I did my CS8-3!
If they are the cast models CS6-2 etc then they can be done, however if they are the extruded models ES5-2 etc then I wouldnt do it, chances are it will crack (can be done but very risky) Even if you have a CS model you need to be very careful You can put masking tape on both sides of your hole which will help some go very slow and dont let the bit get too hot and clean the bit often!..Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you if you do it.

    Drilled

I Drilled in the bottom of the skim cup at an angle and used 3/8" soft vinyl tubing.

I then drilled through the lid of the skim cup and ran my RO waste water tube. So the waste water dilutes the skimmate and it all flows down the soft tube and away.
