Drilling 55 acrylic and setting up sump.few questions

Drilling 55 acrylic and setting up sump.few questions
I'm downgrading from a 90gallon reef to an acrylic 55gallon reef. I have a 55 gallon acrylic a friend gave me a year ago. SO I need to buff all the scratches out of it. It's currently not drilled for an overflow or anything.. So I'm trying to figure out what the best style of overflow would be for this tank?? i was thinking of drilling it in the left rear coner and building a box and going for a Durso Standpipe design but I'm not sure if that's the best route. I've also seen several people just drill holes in the top corners of the tanks. I had 25 like that previously and it worked decent.. So I'm trying to figure what would be the best configuration? I can do the eacrylic work myself so I'm not to worried about that. What should I run for a return pump though? I have a mag12 I'd love to use but am not sure if it would be too much current or if I can just throttle it down a bit. Any suggestions, links, pictures etc. would be great., I'm be completing this project within the next few months here. I still need to get a 55 gallon stand and hood for it.. or build them..TIA
Dan
