Anyone have this skimmer?
Hi All
I just bought the skimmer described below on ebay: BRAND NEW IN BOX JB180 External Hang on Aquarium/ Reef Protein Skimmer w/powerhead. This skimmer improves skimming efficiency and gas exchange with ventri action. Water and air swirl together and produce abundent mini air bubbles in the vortex chamber, rapidyly drawing out dissolved waste. Bubble foam is collected in a top mounted collection cup. It is very easy to use and maintain and an ideal skimmer for new and experienced marine aquarists.Skimmer rated for aquarium up to 180g. Unit completed with powerhead. Dimension around: 19"Hx3.5"D. There were several for sale and went quickly. I just barely got the last one. The supplies to build one would cost almost as much. Here is a site where it can be viewed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=46313 I know its' a little late, but would welcome any comment from someone who already has one in operation. Thanks ![]() |

Just recieved the skimmer today and have to say am very pleased so far. I have spent more money on a power head with this gph rating than I did for the entire skimmer. I haven't hooked it up yet, but already see a pvc modification that shoud increae effectiveness. Just connect a 180 pvc elbow to the inside of the skimmer outflow forceing the water downward.

I hear they work alot better if ya put an airstone down in the bottom of it for some extra oomph. I did when I used a seaclone and it worked fairly good after that.
