I've been running the Remora model on a couple of tanks. For the price it performs quite well. They are usually priced $165-$169 which includes a Maxijet 1200 (295 gph) pump to drive it.

HTH,
Kevin

Thumbs up

Have a AquaC Remora hanging on my 55 and it performes very well. As far as where to go for a low price you could try http://www.reefgeek.com, marine depot, or premium aquatics.

To those of you using the AquaC Remora does it make any noise on your tank? I am building a system in my home theater room and trying to decide to do a sump underneath or hang on the back skimmer. I need it to be very quiet in this room. MIKE

Definately would do a in sump skimmer. The AquaC Remora is on the quiet side for a HOB, but I found myself turning up the volume on my tv when my tank was adjacent to my living room. Mind you I'm noise sensitive, and the sound of pumps, and cooling fans in addition to a skimmer compound the irritation.

I am going to take your advice. I have definately decided to use a sump. Better to cut down on noise and keep everything hidden.

The main noise on my 125reef is the overflow I have hanging on the back! It sets in the living room next to the couch and usually sucks air at the worst times (in the middle of some quiet talking in a movie). The etss 800 w/mag2400 is pretty quiet along with the return pump which is also a mag24. We recently added 2 maxi-jet 1200's on a natural wave timer and is still quieter then the overflow....
