Please Tell Me What U Think

what your think
Skilter Filters
* Aerating power filter and protein skimmer all in one
* Enables efficient chemical, mechanical, and biological filtration
* For use on small and large aquariums

The self-starting, maintenance-free Skilter filter offers total, efficient filtration by combining chemical, mechanical, and biological filtration techniques with protein skimming. Makes an ideal primary filter for 10-55 gallon saltwater, mini-reef, and freshwater aquariums. The advanced venturi-type protein skimmer in each Skilter will handle aquariums up to 125 gallons, provided that additional mechanical filtration is present. Hangs on back of aquarium. Replaceable Bio-Matrix cartridge comes with one white polypad and one black carbon pad.
I'M THINKING ABOUT BUYING IT FOR MY 5 GAL TANK. ANY RECOMMENDATION?

They produce VERY little skimmate. I used to have one on my 55, I only cleaned out the collection are once, then took the cylinder out and used it for flow only

I have a skilter 400, the larger of the two size. And agree that it is very loud i you use the venturi device. However, you can bypass the venturi device by simply not attaching the air line. Instead. get a limewood air diffusor and run it as a counter current air driven skimmer. You will have to adjust the air flow to the skimmer portion of the filter so that the collection cup doesn't overflow. This might be a little overkill for a 5 galon tank. imo
