The concept of "magnetized" water and far infrared radiating ceramics is not new. There are patents on many different devices that claim all sorts of benefits to be derived from water treated with magnets and/or far IR radiating ceramics. Some of these patents go back more than 20 years. There is even a patent for a ceramic comb that emits far IR radiation that is guaranteed to grow hair on bald men. Seems to me that one would have made somebody extremely rich by now if it actually worked.
Interesting reading: http://www.chem1.com/CQ/magscams.html More interesting reading: http://www.chem1.com/CQ/aquacrack.html I have no idea if the product does what it claims or not as I have no experience with it. I do find the manufacturer's explanation of the process confusing and difficult to follow. In my opinion, some of processes that are claimed do not seem like they would be beneficial in an aquarium regardless of the results.

yeah i do see what you mean about the manufacturers not knowing what they mean. but then i look at it that it could just be one of those things that we dont know about but works, er skimming was like this when introduced. and also oneof those things that people just laugh at because they couldnt comprehend it being right, like the world being round!
but who knows there is now way of really finding out, as there will be sinics who say it doesnt work, and the people who have brought it will say it works because they spent good money on it or they have seen an improvement as they may have also changed something when putting it in the tank. |

FWIW they where giving them away @ MACNA in Dallas, I didnt even take one. There was never anyone at their booth unless they wanted the concept explained to them.

I just read some of the manufacturer's explanations on other bulletin boards and some of their claims are truly awe-inspiring.
They discovered that carbon and water are necessary for life. Wow! And all this time I thought that was known for hundreds of years. According to them, when the water comes out the other end of their magic tube it will have "more oxygen." Oh, and it will have "tight hydrogen bonds." Pray tell, how do you change the hydrogen bonds? Are they claiming that their product has any effect whatsoever on the hydrogen bonds? They seem to be. If that were possible, would it still be water? They say that their product causes the water molecules to "line up in a row," sort of like a "liquid crystal." If the molecules actually did line up in a row, wouldn't that be a crystal? How would the fish move around in solid water? And, believe it or not, this realignment of the water molecules allows the "light photons to pass through the water easier." IIRC, one of Marc Weiss' products is supposed to rearrange the water molecules allowing light photons to pass through easier. They also speak of "reactive oxygen." Not exactly something I would want in my aquarium but it might get your clothes whiter. Here's something else that I have been wondering about_: All of the other claims over the years (decades) have touted magnets as preventing calcification in pipes. There have been many scientific studies that have disproved those claims, and the ones about improving your car's fuel economy or allowing you to wash clothes without detergent, but if magnetism actually did have an inhibitory effect on calcium carbonate precipitation that doesn't sound like a benefit in a reef aquarium environment to me. How about you? I almost forgot their most important discovery of all: Magnetism is what holds life forms together. Well, golly gee, they forgot to mention the other three: Gravity and the strong and weak nuclear forces. Please don't demagnetize anything or it will disintegrate. If their product produces any beneficial effects in an aquarium -- and I am highly skeptical myself -- it doesn't do it the way they claim.
