Idea for top off

This idea has strange beginning but it works oh so well. For those of us that are cheap and don't want to purchase toop off pumps and the like, I have been lokking for a good way to have a low maintenece TO system. I found it. This may not be a new idea but it is new to me.
The other day my wife got very dehydrated and I ended up taking her to the doctors to get re-hdrated. They put her on a I>V. and as I watched it drip-drip-drip, I thought it could be used as a top off. I asked the nurse for the iv bag and she looked at me like I was crazy. When I got home, I pulled the line out of the bad and was left with what the picture shows. It has a soft bulb on one end that you can use to fill up the line, no more sucking in Kalk!! I has a little in-line screw valve that you can adjust to a very fine point. And it has a little port on it that if you reallty wanted to get crazy you could use to dose other chems or products. So now all you cheepies have to do is get your wife to stop drinking water for a couple of days...

Uhhh...is your wife ok....hehe....just watch the dripper as it might calcify and start slowing down your drip rate.

My wife is fine...re-hydrated that is Thanks for the heads up. I think if I alternated between Kalk and r/o I can eliminated build-up.

Since you are going on the cheap Get some Mrs. Wage's pickling Lime. It is the same thing as Kalk only available from the local grocery store and costs about 25% as much as aquarium kalk.

What is Kalk? What is it used for? I'm guessing it's for buffering pH/calcium?

kalkwasser is used to buffer the water as well as add calcium. It works very well. Just look at the origional "Berlin" method.

Anyway, pickling lime is the same thing, just much cheaper!
