new skimmer??

I am thinking of upgrading my skimmer and want to ask if anyone uses the Kent Marine Nautilus skimmer? Is it a good one or not?

Tank is an 80 gallon reef and I have an 18 gallon sump, (only size that would fit in the cabinet)

I want to put the skimmer in the sump and I would like it to be quite.

Thanks for your input.

Poseidon uses that Skimmer and I know he is happy with the performance of his, we'll have to wait on him for specifics though.

Yup I use that skimmer and it ROCKS!!! with a couple of minor tuning mods. First, take the "quadra helical injection" out. For some reason it produces much more bubbles and at a higher flow rate without that part. Second, take the little grey nipple off the air inlet tube, and replace it with a Film canister filled with cotton floss. This does make the skimmer much louder, but increases it's output significantly. You can leave the grey piece on and it VERY quiet, but it clogs with dust very quickly. (If you are good at cleaning that part then you don't have to do the film can mod) . Thats it for my modifications, when you set it up, get a MAG12 or BIGGER and make sure there are NO 90 degree elbows on the input side, you need as much velocity as you can get there. On the Output side I have 1" PVC with about 3 90's in place and it works great, but mine is External not in the sump. Today is when I clean the cup, so I'll post a picture of the NASTY Guk it pulls out in 7 days!!!!

The first picture is running, the second picture shows the water/air mixture coming straight up into the reaction chamber, instead of swirling through the lockline "qudra.....yadayadayada"

thanks guys. My other choice is the Euroreef. I think that might work better for me as I have limited clearance under the cabinet. Anyone use the Euroreef skimmer?

Thanks again.
