Post Help me with my closed loop:):):)

I want to eliminate powerheads in my tank so im going to put a closed loop on my tank. The question is what pump do i use and do i need 1 or 2 sea swirls and what size? Also is there anything cheaper that will do the same as a sea swirl? The tank i an 80 gallon tank that will have manily SPS and clams with a few LPS corals on the sand.

Just because the Amp Master 3000 is so cheap to run, I recommend it. I would also recommend two 3/4" Sea swirls,1" if you had a bigger tank. You can always reduce the 1" down to 3/4" and you'll have the bigger SS's if you plan to upgrade later to a bigger tank. The great thing about the AM3000 is you can throttle it down to almost nothing. If you got an extra 600.00 laying around then this would be the way to go........IMO

I guess you could do a Mag 12 and one 3/4" Sea swirl for around 300.00 but why not do it right.........

The $600 that golfish mentioned would cover the pump and the sea swirls. From you rpost it appears you thought he was estimating a price for just the pump.

amp master

i don't think you can get the prices you mentioned anymore.
The seaswirls are $15 off at marinedepot., but still not 155 for the 1".
where'd you see the ampmaster for 225? That was probably the group purchase a while back, but everything is back to about 290-300.
any advice?

Jacksonlui,
A month ago this pump was could still be had for 225.00 and two 3/4" Sea Swirls were 153.00 each if you bought two. I never qouted a price for 1" Sea Swirls. You can still get the SS for that price but good luck finding the pump. I paid 309.00 for mine

Tony, there is one on my site. I put my pumps on top of my tank, so just substitute that for being in your stand. Go to my DIY section, and you can see pictures of the setup. Good luck.
