Distilled water is pure water; it does not need dechlorination.

alright i never knew that so i was just curious, thanks
can it be used in place of RO water?
yea it can, i asked that about a week ago, and someone told me yes, it doesnt have to be RO is can be Distilled water. so i went out to a grocery store and bought 30gal of distilled water, for about 18$, instead of buying a 150$ RO filter.
Yes, but usually you can find R.O. water in self-serve machines at some supermarkets (Wal-Mart Super Centers for example) for only $0.25/gallon. Distilled water usually is sold in 1-gal containers that look like milk jugs and it usually costs more than twice as much.Originally Posted by new2salt2

yea theyre about .50 for a gallon of distilled water, and just for the record my walmart does not have a self serve machine, and they have morons working there, so i definetly wouldnt go there to look for RO water if i were you.
Maybe it's just the Wal-Mart Super Centers that have them? Do you have any Wal-Mart Super Centers where you live? They're the big stores that sell groceries, too. There are NO Wal-Mart Super Centers in the state of California, for example, but they are constructing one there now and they expect to build 42 more in California in the next 12 months unless the citizens there wake up and stop them.Originally Posted by Reefer769

haha, yea the walmart ive been to sells groceries, and everything else, but no RO water machine, oh yea, i live in illinois.
In IL check for a Kroger or Farmer Jack, they will have the water machines there. I bought the refillable 5 gallon jugs for 12.99, then it cost 1.95 to refill them. I did that for about a year, then convinced my wife it would be cheaper to buy an RO unit... It was way easier for me too.
yea i will keep buying 1 gal jugs of distilled water for now, untill i get a RO filter. becuase i really cant afford one now, so i will just have to wait, and since you can use both RO or distilled water then ill just stcik with distilled for now.
well i think it would be cheaper to buy the RO water for 1.95 for 5 galons at Walmart cause by the sound of it the water bill would go through the roof if i waste 2-3 galons for every 1 good galon..could not afford water bill then
Guess that depends on how high your water rates ARE!!! LOL
average 150 a month but they bill every 2 monts so about 300 smaks.. thats not inculding the summer when watering lawn and fill up pool (easyset) nothing fancy..
My LFS sell ro/di for 2.50 for 5 gallons. Not bad.
well i have a di filter now ill be buying my water.. might even have it delivered by a water company with a cooler..
If you want to cart water back and forth, instead of using one gallon jugs go get you a plastic 5gal "kerosen"? Jug for about $5 from the store and use it. Also, you can go to HD or lowes and get a filter housing to run a carbon block filter infront of that DI unit so it will last a whole lot longer...
RO DI and Distilled water are basically the same thing. 2 different processes, same outcome......PURE WATER, 0 TDS and Hardness. Im part of the staff at Aqua FX. If you guys have any questions regarding water, I will be more than happy to help. Everyone have a great weekend!!!
One more thing. If you store RO DI, RO, or Distilled water, make sure you are using a food grade container(preferrably Polyethylene) Pure water is so pure that will basically suck elements and oxygen right out of a non-foodgrade container, and the air around it. I know alot of people use trash cans, but I do believe Rubbermaid Ruffneck are the only ones who make a container which will work with Pure Water.
Hi Irene, welcome to Reefland!Originally Posted by Irene Pardo
Actually it is the Rubbermaid Brute product, and only in white, yellow and gray, that meets USDA meat & poultry equipment specs. The Rubbermaid Ruffneck products do not. We went through this with Rubbermaid Commercial Products Division a couple of years back. It is exactly as you say except that you have the product names mixed up.
