Question filtration question

hi,
I asked this before, but i was hoping i could get a more specific answer... What filter should i buy for my 72 gal FO tank? I have an aqua clear 500 and a bak pak 2, that i can use along with anything else i buy. I am leaning away from relying on live rock as a means of filtration... so what should i buy? im setting the tank up monday so id like to be able to buy it by then.

also in addition to the type of filtration anyone would recommend, please include an example 'model name' and any extra pumps i may need for it.

thanks for any response

mark

I am no expert but in my opinion you could go with a sump system, eather a hang-on overflow or a drill through. It has been my experience that this becomes the easiest to upgrade in the future if you want to go to corals. Know i have only been into salt for about 3 years but trust me i made alot of costly mistakes and hope to help others from doing the same. Also there a lot out of companys that make sumps like CPR and My Reef Creations ect... you might want to check with your local fish store to see what they use and sell. This helps with parts and set-up questions.

thanks, I considered going with a sump, but i have absolutely no plans on turning it into a reef, at most maybe ill put like a few mushrooms in and maybe some xenia and the like... Right now i am concentrating on filtering a FO tank, so i was kinda leaning towards a large canister filter in addition to what i have...

thanks

Well in that case the EHEIM Professionel Wet/Dry Filter (2227, 2229) will do a very good job. here is a little more info on it
Eheim Professionel Aquarium Wet/Dry Filters Information

The EHEIM Professionel Wet/Dry Filters offer efficiency surpassing that of a trickle filter. The water movement within the filter is bi-directional allowing for extended contact time between bacteria colonies, oxygen and toxins, which are thus decomposed much more rapidly than in a traditional ilter.Decomposition of ammonium - 73% faster, nitrite - -67% faster. Exchange of oxygen and CO2 is accomplished by means of displacement through the specially designed breathing tube. The water output pulsates as the filter fills and empties, achieving a wavelike action.

2227 92 gal (350 L)1,30 gal (4,9 L)277 gph (1050 lph)13.0 lbs

2229 159 gal (600 L)1,90 gal (7,3 L)277 gph (1050 lph)14.0 lbs

Good luck

Jason
