I'm sure this has been talked about to death..
I would appriciate if some of you that have had good and bad luck with different types of RO/DI units - could give me a bit of advice... I was thinking of purchasing the Kent Maxxima Hi-S 35gpd What do you all think, Can I do with less. My tap water is treated to the max by the city. Thanks for your opitions. Nick

Thank you for your replies,
I have been looking at the Kent Maxxima Hi-S 35gpd mainly for the Hi-s membrane... The only problem is I don't know If I really need this extra filteration. I do have high chlorine content in my water supply, but not sure about the silicate content, or how to check if this could be a problem. The ebay systems mentioned do not give the specifics of the filters your are given, this makes me think they must not be of the best quality filters. any further insight would be great. Thanks Nick

Sue, Thanks for the info.
Mike, What brand of RO/DI are you using? Did you get a electronic quality meter with your system, or did you purchase is seperatly? I still have not made my purchase, and was swinging between aquafx and kent. As I mentioned before I have a high clorine content, but not sure about my silicate levels. The water for our town is pumped from an old Iron mining Pit... And is could be used for a public swimming pool from the tap...(well almost). It is starting to seam to me the brand is really not a concern, since I can always get the better replacement filters later... Does is really a plus to have the clear canisters on these systems, I'm sure the DI color change is a must, but what does every one think about the rest.? Thanks for the help Nick

Nick I use the filter direct model on E-bay. I bought it for $78.00. The clear canisters are cool, but not mandatory. And I actually borrowed my TDS from Little Devil. I think he bought it from Premium Aquatics for around $30.00. I will be getting one shortly myself, it is on the list of things to buy. I do have a birthday coming up.... Maybe I can get one of my bud's to buy it for me!!!
