I have just recently set up my 35 gallon salt water tank, i currently have about 1"-2" of fine sand in the bottom, i have a seaclone 100 gallon protien skimmer, what else would i need to actually run this tank set-up well, without going overboard, i will eventually put some invertebrates, cleaner shrimp, crabs, snails, and a few fish, 3 damsels are in their now, also i will be moving in November, just down the street but what precautions do i need to take in order to transfer the tank and inhabitates there safely,

i would appreciate any answers to any of these questions, please feel free to tell me anything, i an opne to just about everything (although i am a "poor college student" lol)

This is not the most effecient skimmer in the world and you may find that down the road, it's lack of effeciency causes nutrients to build up in your aquarium.

Those damsels can be mean little dudes so be weary when adding new fish to the system. As far as what do you need? A decent skimmer, some good quality liverock, patience and some time to spend performing maintenance.

Pretty straight forward moving a tank a short distance. Remove the animals and place them in a container with water from the tank. Remove as much water as possible, just leaving a tab bit to cover your sandbed. Move it and set it back up. It's not too hard at all moving a small tank a short distance.

You should know up front that "poor" and saltwater don't mix.

what would you suggest as a protien skimmer to use, i have heard about prism and that they sucked but i never found anything bad about the one that i am using.

CPR BAK-PAK, it is an awsome skimmer. i have one running on my 30gal tank, and its been doing great, i havent been getting a lot of foam lately, but that may be becuase my tank is so new. but you will come to find a lot of good reviews about the cpr bak pak, and from personal experience it is really easy, and low maintanance. all you really have to do it empty out the collection cup once a week. it also does a good job staying quite.

I really can't complain about the Seaclone's. I ran one for a few months, and it pulled out lots of junk. For the first two weeks, it only pulled out water. I guess a long "break in" period. Also, if you take the sponge pre-filter off, it works even better. The pre-filter gets clogged with junk fast, so you gotta clean it often. I just removed it all together. It pulled out some pretty dark, thick junk. The CPR's are great too, I just converted the Seaclone to two of them. I'd recommend the CPR, or the Aqua C Remora, the word is they're excellent hang on models. But the seaclone does work....kind a.....sort a..... I think for a 35 gal., you'll be OK, as I was running the 100 on my 80gal.

If you have the $$, the AquaC Remora with a bubble trap and surface pre-skimmer would be a good choice.

do you think i need a wet-dry system, i might eventually move my 30 gallon up to my 55 gallon. I am looking at a wet/dry sump online

now it says no pump is included, if i bought this offline what would i need to run this unit, i usually don't like buying things online but sometimes things are just so much cheaper and they work just the same if you buy the right one.

No you do not need a wet/dry; a standard aquarium will do that same as it would be my recommendation to remove the bio-balls from any wet/dry therefor turning it into a regular sump.

What you would need:
An external overflow box (CPR, Lifereef, etc.)
A standard aquarium to use as the sump
A return pump
