Will protein skimming slow down the nitrogen cycle?

My FOWLR tank has been running for 3 weeks now. 110g - 100lbs LR - 2 aquaclear 500 (for circulation only) - 20g sump - 4'' sand bed -Aquac remora pro skimmer. I know 3 weeks is completely normal but I pernonally have never had a tank take this long to finish cycling. The only thing I am doing differently is run the skimmer (I installed after week 1). could this slow the process down?

current readings are

PH 8.2
Ammonia 0
Trite 0.2
Trate 5.0
Temp 78

Thanks

Mark

Hey Mark!

No a protein skimmer will not slow the process however it is not really necessary to run it for the first few weeks unless you want to.
