Question remora pro

I have a remora pro skimmer on my tank thats working great. I have about 3" of flexable hose that connects it to the pump and I've noticed that some of the water spilling back into my tank is getting sucked directly back into the pump. Would I lose a significant amount of water flow and pressure by switching to a 8" hose?

As long as it is not bent anymore then the 3" hose I wouldn't think so...
