Best (In sump) return pump???

What do you think is the best (in sump) return pump for a 50gal tank, 20gal sump, 3 feet from tank to sump. 1" plumbing, with a scwd.

I don't think you can beat a MAG Drive. For this set up, a 7 or a 9 would be good depending on how much your overflow can handle.

Exclamation mag drive

I currently use a mag 18 on my 125g tank / 25 g refugeum.
I use the scwd on my refugeum, because the scwd can only hanlde a certain amount of gallons per hour. I regulate the flow through the refugeum, so most of the pressure/flow goes to the main tank.

I would check the specs on the scwd, and match the scwd specs to the pumps specs and see whitch pump would sute the scwd best. Also I would probably go to a smaller size tubing like a 3/4'' instead of 1''. 1'' is recommended for like the mag 18 or the mag 24.(I use 1'' on my mag 18)

I also work in a machine shop. So I machined the scwd so it would adapt to 3/4'' pvc tubing. Before I did I could only use flex tubing, that would then adapt to pvc tubing.

I made the adjustable rio outlets adapt to pvc outlets that go to my main reef(I will post some pictures soon of what I am talking about.)

If anyone would like to purchase some custom parts for return pumps, outlets, reactors, protein skimmers, etc.

e-mail me at extreme_pressure@yahoo.com and let me know. anyhting can be made.

I am currently building my own 3 chambered reactor, with built in ph monitor, 22 needle injectors, and dead spot CO2 recurculation. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Again matching the pump to the scwds spec if a really good idea(for the life of the scwd)

Hope I was helpfull

Very helpfull, I tried to order a Mag 7 from my fish store, but the manager said they are noisy???, then he tried to sell me a external pump for $200.00. I can't remember the name of it, but he claims that it is ultra quiet. i'll get the name of it and post another thread to see what everyone thinks before I buy anything.

My 2 mags are near SILENT!!! And by the way I use 1" PVC and it works great, in my manual it actually says for highest flow rates use 1.25"!!! WOW!! Just check the manual when you do get your pump and use what is recommended!!!
