Priming pumps/filters

I have a wet/dry and cannister filter for 100 gal tank (I know not optimum setup but I bought everything used for a pretty good price).

Anyway, when I go to fill up the tank, do I add water to the filters as well or just fill up the tank and wait for overflow to kick in?

If I add water to the filters, how do I make sure to maintain proper salinity and ph for all the water?

If setting up the tank for the first time, You can add the salt as you add the water. The filters will need water & will draw from the tank. Simply top off to desired level. Allow the water to aerate for 24 hours before adding salt/fresh water to get correct salinity (1.024). PH should adjust to a perfect 8.2 if using a good salt mix. It takes approximately 2 cups of salt per 5 gallons to achieve the proper salinity.
