Skimmer choice...

Hi guys

Anyone have any experience with the RedSea Berlin range of skimmers...recommended by the LFS.

Hoping that the Classic would do my planned 150G FOWLR.

cheers

I have the Kent Nautilus. I like it, but think that a My Reef would have been a better choice. Protein Skimmer and lights are going to be your 2 largest investments, and both are VERY important to the success of your hobby. I would skip the Berlin and get a more powerful skimmer.

I agree

The Berlin is a decent skimmer but no longer at the top of the heap. A protein skimmer is the most important piece of equipment you will buy IMO. I am running a "My reef creation" on my 110 FOWLR and could not be happier

I just bought an Aqua C EV 180 with a MAG 7 for my 150, Works well in fact it is so efficient that it has periods when their is nothing to remove.

Check it out http://www.proteinskimmer.com

The AquaC EV Series are very nice skimmers, it would seem to me that a MAG 7 would be a little weak for an EV 180 though.

Another choice is the MR models from My Reef Creations which utilize a beckett style injector. I use an MR-1 powered by a MAG 18 and am very pleased with it.
