Knocking out center brace? opinions please
Ok
I am thinking I want to convert my 20g sump under my 75g reef to a sump/refug. But my problem is....I cant remove the sump through either door ![]() So I am thinking of possibly removing my center brace to get it out. I obviously am thinking I need to support the tank with a jack or something else while I work on the conversion. Might anyone have any suggestions on whether this is a bad idea? Ok,well I already know this is not a great idea but do you think it is simply NOT an option? What about any other possible solutions? Or do you think a refugium is simply not in the cards for me? Thanks, Mark |

As long as you have something supporting the tank at all times you are okay, you can even use your jack for your car to jack up a 2X4 or a 4X4 or an equivilent piece of material that matches what is the brace now, just make sure you don't over compensate and put too much upward force on the tank and put stress on the tank, make sure you put a level on top of the tank and still keep it level , let us know how its going, as for the sump/refug option i am not sure but i know wood and strengths more than tanks and salt ****

I think it will be fine... My 55 had an open back, no middle brace at all. What size are the posts on the sides, and the span across the tank?
