Shelf life for pre-mix saltwater

When mixing up a batch of saltwater(Tropic Marin/ RO) how long will it last sealed in a container?

It should last a long while as long as it is properly sealed to prevent evaporation. I have used mixed salt water that sat in a 5 gal bucket for 4 months with no problems whatsoever. I usually keep one bucket of pre mix around in case of emergencies. I really wouldn't worry too much about shelf life....

That was as I suspected. I have a friend that gives me his extra water when he mixes it up for a water-change, and he always insists on getting rid of it quickly. I told him there were no organisms to worry about in it, but he insists there is something in there that will 'go bad' in a few days.
