Durso definately louder than stock
I purchased a Durso and installed it..The new standpipe makes more noise than the stock AGA. I spent about 2 hours slowly making the hole in the cap bigger but it didnt help. I even tried making a pipe using the parts from both standpipes. nope..that did'y work either. In the end, I installed the old pipe
The fact that AGA advertises these new "megaflow" standpipes are a much improved model and that they are dead silent really upsets me. I refuse to accept that this is as quiet as my tank is going to get. I was much happier with my undrilled tank and am seriously thing about returning this god forsaken tank to the LPS and getting an undrilled 90. There has to be a way to get this noise to an acceptable level!! somebody...for the love of god! help me |

What is louder about it, the water fall effect or is it flushing?

Mark,
How far is the water falling into the overflow compartment? It sounds like the standpipe needs to be a bit taller so the water has no more than 2" to fall, and this can be easily added with a coupling and another piece of PVC added to the bottom of the pipe. Scott Z. |

Then the water fall affect isn't really the problem. When you look at the water level in your overflow, is it at a consistent level or is it continually flucuating up and down?
