HI, I'm setting up a new 55g tank and plan, in the future on putting in live rock, corals, and some fish. I have a aqua clear 75 sump which will hold my skimmer w/ maxijet 1200 pump(290 ghp) and the quiet one 3000(780 gph). In my return line I will use a ball valve to control flow. In my tank, I'm using the aquaclear 402(270 ghp) and my magnum 350. Is this enough to support the type of system I want to have? Or do I need to add another power head?

Hi cmaria, Welcome to Reefland!
I think that will be a decent amount of flow for some soft and hard corals with some fish. If not, you can always add another powerhead. ![]() Scott Z. |

Decent flow as Scott said. But.... and there is always a but, I would go with Maxi-Jets for your powerheads. I have been running the same 1200's for 2+ years on a Red Sea Wavemaker and have never had a failure. Great PH's in my opinion!!

I second the maxijet for powerheads, I love mine and they have never given me any problems

Thanks guys, added another one decided on the penguin rated at 300gph. should definitely be enough for what I plan on doing.
