Any Suggestions on a Skimmer that WON'T Release 10 Million Micro bubbles in my tank??

I had an Excaliber hang on skimmer with a so called bubble trap, yea that worked, no really I'm serious. I put a filter bag on it, filter pad, nuclear waste, my wife's panty hose, and a tomahawk cruise missile, nothing would stop the damn bubbles. SO I took it off and went to an old small berlin I had long ago, but you can place the air stone so high in the thing, you get no bubbles. It is however insufficient and doesn't work all that great. What would any of you recommend for a 55 reef that can hang on and not bubblize me?? I've been looking at one of those Prizm Pro skimmers by Red Sea, anybody got one?

Napoleon (I'm just used to it),

That is the trouble with any hang-on skimmer. All skimmers are going to release a certain amount of bubbles from the skimmer, I mean after all skimmers are supposed to produce bubbles. Any skimmer that is not releasing some bubbles probably isn't producing enough bubbles.

With that said, you are going to be forced to utilize a good skimmer with a good bubble trap, the Remora Pro comes to mind. However they too might release some bubbles.

Howdy! I put mine in the sump. If you have one, try that. I have the sea clone 100 and I had it hanging on the back. The directions also stated it could be in the sump as well. No more bubbles.

Sometimes lot of bubbles, sometimes just a few. But once it went into the sump the bubbles were long gone before circulating back through the pump.

I got a 26 bow that came with a prizm skimmer. I have to say it releases hardly any bubbles at all. But as far as skimming..i don't think its all that great. I do get skimmate though to be fair. Just not what i am looking for. I think the remora's are your best hang on out there right now. But i could never, ever get the microbubbles to leave. I had a pro with the mag upgrade and the bubble trap/overflow upgrade. You could try the turbo-floater multi. A decent skimmer as well, but i've never heard about micro-bubbles from that unit.

i had the same problem, here is what i did

ok, so i have millions of micro bubbles from my skimmer....and it accumilates on my live rock and appears unsightly.....i took the material from my old bio-wheels which i dont use any more, and looped it under the out flow of the skimmer....walla no more bubbles.....it does restrict the flow, but it sends it underneath, so no worries of back ups.....just thought id share a simple solution.....you can't notice it form the view side of the tank either

    Smile

i use a bakpak on my 20high. it only makes bubbles the first day or so then it calms down. but if i dose anything it goes nuts again. like said before hang on skimmers are bubble makers and that's just the nature of the beast.

I have the prizm with deluxe upgrade kit and i never see bubbles being released into my tank. It does a good job skimming as long as it is set up properly.

I just hooked up my seaclone 100 today. There are some small bubbles but really not that many. I was told by many people that after a couple of weeks the bubbles would dissapear all together.

Yes it did but I had to constanly adjust it. I have since got the AquaC Pro Urchin. It sits in the sump and does a great job.

I've got the Aggressor II hang-on for the past couple of years. It works well, and you can adjust the ammount of bubbles into the chamber to decrease the ammount that comes out. The only gripe is that it is hard to clean the inside if it gets clogged. My solution was to wrap the clear tube with a cover (I used black tank background) to prevent algae from growing inside. The price isn't bad either...
