I am setting up a 150 that eventually will be a mixed reef. I dont have enough room right now for a sump. I would like any suggestions that someone could offer on a skimmer brand model. Also, how much GPH should I aim for for water movement? Any suggestions on Brands for pumps for the water flow? Thanks for the help!

It is difficult to find hang-on skimmers capable of adequately skimming a 150-gal tank. Most of them are designed for tanks of 90 gallons or less. However, one of Lifereef's skimmers would work on that size tank.

Two Tunze Turbelle Streams (6060) at $127/ea would be nice for your tank. Mount one on each end of the tank. They would give you 1600 gph each and do not require an outside pump like a Sea-Swirl does. http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...kit.asp?CartId=

Those suggestions are based on your intended setup without a sump. I have a Lifereef skimmer myself and it is a good, reliable skimmer. I have tried a Tunze Stream 6060 but it was too strong for my little 120-gal tank with its deep sand bed, so I sold it to a friend and he is using two of them in his 75-gal tank with good results but he has a bare bottom tank.
