Anyone ever remove these or ais it better just to leave them be? I would rather not disrupt what balance i have if i really shouldnt and dont need to.

Thanks
Brian

If you ran an UGF and then piled sand on top of it, you might have some nasty stuff under it that would be better off removed. Eventually everyone that uses them in the beginning (not knowing better) removes the parts when doing a substrate change or other major overhaul.

I would go ahead and do it personally. The longer you use the Crushed Coral, the longer detritus is going to build up in the substrate and cause problems. Changing out the substrate is a major task, in any size tank, so make sure to take this opportunity to do other changes you have planned as well.

Get rid of it.........it's a difficult task but worth it.

check out this thread and do a search for others similar and I'm sure you will figure out what to do.

i will be moving my tank to another room of our house next early next year, and hopefully getting a much bigger size, so i think i am going to just let it ride for now.

Would removing the CC a little at a time help or just be a false sense of progress?

I wouldnt let it ride for more than 4 or so months. If you were to do it even that soon you are gonna be amazed at the literal amount of crap that is under that CC and ugf plate.
