Unhappy Huge Airbubble Problem

I have recently started a Saltwater Tank, Its a Tall 65 Gallon Tank. I just recently started to get tons and tons of tiny little air bubbles. I know its not comming from my skimmer since the water in my sump does not have any bubbles. If i back down the water going into my tank they go away, but when the pump is running full blast it gets all these little tiny bubbles. Someone said it could be that the pump is moving water to fast?

Thanks

I would venture to say that there is a small tiny pin hole leak somewhere in your return plumbing that is causing air to be drawn in thus causing bubbles. You can take a bit of vasaline to cover each connection 1 at a time to see if that is the problem.

i am having the same problem and what i found is that i have a smal sump and my skimmer is making real small bubbles and my return pump is picking them up. i dont have a shelf in my sump but i will put one in tomorow. to see the bubbles what i did was to shut the room lights off and watched into my sump wiht a flashlight and then i could see them. good luck i hope it helps

Ok i found out what the problem was. I work at an aquarium and I had the head of our waterquality Lab come over and he said that the cause for all the tiny bubbles was the velocity of the pump pushing the water in the pipe creating a tiny vortex and creating all the bubbles. When he told me all this i thought he was full of crap, but as he suggested i put a smaller pump, and all the tiny bubbles disapeared. I guess bigger is not always better....

Thanks for all your help
