Question Wave Question

I want to change the current in my tank, Ive seen the wave controllers for powerheads the only problem is I dont want to stick a bunch of powerheads in my tank so they are seen. Right now all the plumbing is hidden in the overflow so you cant see any pipes or anything like that. I would love to keep it that way. Can any one give me any advice.

Thanks

Do a search on this forum for closed loop; there are some DIY projects that you can do that don't require drilling. Basically if you can set a MAG pump on top of your tank with a short piece of PVC pipe connected to the input for the pump that stays below the water line, you can split the output from the pump in a couple of directions and get some decent flow. If I recall, mrok12 was the username of the person I remember posting this.

Thanks. I was really also wondering if I could drop some small submersables in my sump and push it up to the top. It would have to go about 4 feet, so could i do that? Or is it to much. The top of my tank does not allow to many more accessories, since its a half round Acrylic tank with a custom made hood with all my lighting and stuff in it. I have room behind it and underneith it.

Thanks again for all your help. If anyone needs help with a 5,000 - a couple million gallon system i could tottaly help but these smaller ones are killing me.

Hey Brad,

Adding an additional pump to your sump is possible as long as the overflow draining to the sump will handle the additional volume of water. Another problem is as you increase the amount of volume passing through a sump, no matter the number of baffles micro bubbles become problematic.
