That is a slightly different configuration than I've ever seen before? Anyhow, I've said it several times now and I'll stick by my statement for this one. Most RO/DI units are the same, only the cartridges differ which are easily, and cheaply replaced. What your really looking for in a unit is the quality of Customer Service you will receive if needed.

That is the exact same unit I purchased (from the same seller even ) and I have NO problems with it... It's been really great! The seller was very helpful and quick to ship too, it was packed beyond good, excellent would be putting it lightly... I would Highly Recommend both the unit and the seller!

It would be nice to have the clear housings atleast on the DI chamber so you can see your color change resin.

AS I looked at it, I was under the assumption that the DI chamber was on top of this unit and was clear? Did I misread it?

Yes it is definitely a plus to be able to see the resin... not real sure what the alternative method for knowing when it needs to be changed is, but I like being able to just look at it. I also keep extra resin, so that if it tunnels down too much, I can fill in the gap to prevent any untreated water from passing thru. I have an inline tds meter that reads consistently at 1ppm, from 180-ish prefilter, so I am very happy with the results.

LOL!!! I have the same unit too!!! Great price, works well and was fast shipping. I did have a couple minor issues with seller though, one of the brackets that holds the DI cartridge was broken, I tried calling and e-mailing and never got a response... No biggie to me though, it still works perfectly. Mine is over a year old and I make about 15 gallons a week, Here is an excellent example, I just did the TDS out of my tap (well very hard lots of IRON too) at 640!!! In my trash can that I use for top off.... 40! I will take those results any day!

Here's a few thoughts:

It uses a 100 gpd Filmtec membrane but claims to be a 110 gpd system. Hmm.

If you're handy, you'll want to get an add on DI unit and switch to a vertical DI housing. Horizontal DI housings too easily short circuit when the DI resin shrinks during use. Additionally, the vertical refillable housings contain about 24 oz of resin - looks like the one in the ebay add will hold 6 oz.

Filmtec 100 gpd membranes have at best a 90% rejection rate, rather than the 95 to 98% listed in the ebay add. The higher rejection rates apply to Filmtec TFC membranes of 75 gpd or less. So in the example in the ebay ad, 300 ppm tds water will be reduced to 30 after the RO, rather than 20.

This unit offerrs "demineralization" resin. No such thing to my knowledge. Surely the seller means "Deionization" resin. Hmm.

You'll want to replace the GAC carbon filters with at least one carbon block. GAC filters are an inferior product in this application.

You'll want to install a flush valve and use it considerably more often than once per year.

Considering all the technical mistakes in the ad, I don't believe this ad originates from a person experienced with RO/DI units, and I would wonder what surprises I'd be in for...

Saltjunkie...look for a 75 gpd unti from aquasafe canada...i have several of their units i use them for our operations for my online store. They do a wonderful job at keeping the TDS low and they are very inexspensive compared to a kent unit.
