Sump replacement help
Hey all,
Everythings up and running, fish are doing well and tank parameters are stabilizing. However, in building my first sump myself I have come to realize with the rate of evaporation and a few other problems that I made the sump a little too small for my equipment and practical use. I am currently using a 20G tall, MR-1 skimmer in the tank, with Mag12 pump and Mag9 return. It also has a small refugium which is the main reason for my post. My compartments especially the return are a little small. I lose about 1/4 to 1/2 gallon in evap daily and am get micro bubbles from the return when the water evaps. I want to redo the sump in a 30g tank. Any suggestions on how best to do this? The refugium has already cycled and has a DSB with gracilaria, cucumber, and LR. 1. Will I be able to use the same substrate in the new sump? 2. Will I have to cycle the refugium again?
