5 gallon

i had a custom 5gallon made for me with a 3/4 bulkhead built in for overflow. im going to use my 5 gallon nano that is set up now for the sump, and i will just use the water, rock, and sand from the 5 gal i have set up now and just put it into the custom 5 gal, and just add 5 new gallons to the other 5 gallon i have set up now, that will be the sump. will this cause a cycle? (adding 5 additional gallons to 5 existing gallons). i was also thinking about making the sandbed a little bigger... right now in the existing 5 gal its about 2 in high, i was thinking of making it 3 in. should i just add a layer of new sand on top of the existing sand, or should i put it under then put the existing sand on top of that? and will that cause a cycle?
