    Cooling fans - with LED?

I'm searching around for new canopy fans ... and came across these:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...999-122&depa=0

Not sure if I need the noise/volume they push ... but what are your thoughts on this idea? Would be pretty cool - and as they run only when the MH's are on ... not a big deal.

    Or a bad idea?

Got a `perfect fan' to suggest?
    ---
Most these seem 12v fans ... anyone have a quickie primer on how I'd need to wire these up?

    Hi mark.

I run 2 PC FANS to cool my MH hood over my 26 gallon. Both blow into the hood and force warm air out.

    Each fan is 3.25"x3.25"

All you have to do is cut the power connection on the fans (or you dont have to if you dont want to, but is easier). Then connect a 12 V DC transformer to it. These guys only need a bit of current to run, so I went with a 12V DC 500mA (0.5 Amp) transformer.

You can daisy chain em all to one transformer. Works like a charm. Keeps my tank at 79-81.

    Here is a photo:

They're expensive compared to the computer fans, but I really like the Icecap Variable Speed fans. I have mine mounted in the back of the canopy aligned in the center on our Reef Optix pendents; plugged into the same timer as the halides. The fans keep the pendents so cool that I can hold my hand against them after the lights have been on all day. They are quiet too.

Well ... likely going with non-LED ones. Probably just the PC fans like above - and did find some cheaper ones too

The IceCap Variable speed ones are tempting, very much so. I'll post pics once I get them and mounted [next weekend?] - though canopy projects for me are always a little hectic as they're very early morning and rushing to be finished to get the lights on in time [though it doesn't matter that much I'd guess]

If you want Variable speed Case fans look at the Thermaltake Smart Fan 2, also on newegg HERE.

I have a couple of these in various computers and they work great. You plug the included controller into them and you can adjust the speed at will.
