Is this possible?
Hello all,
I have a friend of mine who is also into reef tanks and he read somewhere that people have turned their Bio Wheel Hang on filters into refugiums, by removing the wheel and putting the magic mud and the calepora into the bottom and then placing a small light on top. Does anyone think this is possible? I was just curious. I have a 20 gallon long tank and I was thinking of different ways to help improve the water conditions. I also have a red sea protien skimmer and about 40 lbs of live rock as well as live sand. |

Sure it's possible, I just wonder how much of an effect something that small will actually have on the system as far as nutrient removal. Some sand and a little LR rubble would be a nice place for pods to reside though.
