    Question Skimmer Help

I recently added a SeaClone 100 to my 24 gallon nano cube. When I try to adjust the air intake to create foam, billions of tiny bubbles enter the tank. If I turn down the air to eliminate the bubbles, no foam is created. Am I doing something wrong? Do the bubbles hurt my animals? The instructions said that some additives may cause the bubbles, but I haven't added any slime inducing aditives in about 10 days.

    DKJONES,

This is a common problem with HOT skimmers. Some HOT skimmers have an added bubble eliminator that can be added to it to help with this, but I don't think the SeaClone does. Sometimes after the skimmer has ran for a week or 2, the bubbles will stop entering the tank but I wouldn't count on that. The bubbles aren't really harmful, but sure are unsightly and will eventually get to you. Not knowing about the SeaClones, you might try to put some kind of spnge or filter floss in front of the output to help eliminate them from entering the display.

HOT = Hang On Tank, some people reffer to them has HOB = Hang on Back.

P.S. I should add that if you do use a sponge or some kind of floss and it works out for you, make sure to clean it or replace it often to prevent waste from accumulating and causing small problems. Water coming out of the skimmer should be pretty clean but it will still get dirty.
