Question Turbofloter 1000

How often shoud I clean my turbofloter 1000 skimmer, and does anyone know what I shoud clean on it? I regularly clean the collection cup, but dont know what else I'm supposed to clean. It had very little instructions with it,

Hi afal66, Welcome to Reefland!

I do not have a Turboflotor but I try to clean my skimmer every 3 weeks. I have an MR-1 that disassembles right at the neck of the skimmer that allows me to clean the neck and the collection cup which is all I need. You should try to clean place on the skimmer that skimmate builds up on.

Cleaning Skimmer

Thanks for the quick reply Scott . I do clean the colection cup, but I wasn't sure if I had to clean the powerhead or venturi or whatever else is in there.

Oh sure, I think it's always a good idea to clean them as a part of the maintenance. Cleaning the powerhead and vneturi only ensures your getting the maximum flow and air pushing through your skimmer which is most important to it's operation. For our MR-1, it is beckett driven but I do clean the pump about every 3 months and make sure that the beckett is cleaned as often.
