Hey guys!

I run my Aqua C Remora until it shuts off.... So a fairly light colored skimmate. I don't believe you can over skim a tank and that it is healthier by doing so. Also good skimming can help prevent the propigation of nuisance algae.....

I'll just bet you don't ask your wife to clean the skimmers, do you?

I run two skimmers (Tunze 3115's) on my 120. One runs wet, the other drier.

I skim wet. Clean it once a week and good to go. I like the clear water look without junk susended in the water column.

I shoot for a dark color wet with some foam. I have to empty the cup twice a week. Every other week I like to break down my skimmer all the way and wash it inside and out.

And man do they stink!

I run a Bac Pac skimmer and it is always running. The only way I know to adjust it is to move the collection cup up or down. Is there another way to adjust it so that it does a more effecient job?

Not sure what type of Bac Pac it is, though.

I run my skimmer at a medium setting, I have a drain on it going into a old milk jug, I clean the cup, neck and jug once a week and yes it looks and smells bad.

Except when you put a little Kalk/Lime in the waste collector ... which I've found to be a cheap way to eliminate the smell every time I empty it.

Don't need much, but my waste collector tends to spew unpleasant smell when just emptied ...

Agreed!!!!! Just don't empty it out when the wife is around, it seems to smell worse then, doesn't it??

I try and run mine fairly dry. The picture below is what the skimmer does in about a week's work. Since installing ozone a couple of months ago, it produces about half of that.
