I have an old filter from a previous freshwater aquarium I had a year or so back and was wondering if I could just use use the pump for circulation. I would remove the carbon filter "guts"..like I said just want it for added flow. The tricky part is that while using this filter I had to treat my tank for both ich and dropsy. Will the lingering effects of these medications kill my invertabrates and fish? Is there anyway to thouroughly clean it to ensure its safety...vinegar? Thanks

As cheap as powerheads and filters are, do you really want to take a chance on using it? If you treated the old tank for ich then more then likely you used copper. If thats the case then I would defiantly not use it.
