Smile In need of a sump, please advise.

Hello everyone,

I have a 90 gal tank with abt 85lbs or so of keys rock. I am relatively new to the marine world and I am looking to buy(or attempt to build if I can get some help) a premade sump, overflow, and whatever pumps that are necessary for my size tank. My problem is I do not know where to shop for these particular things, or who makes a good one. If anyone has any suggestions where to buy a well built sump and overflow etc... or can give me advice on how to build one I would definitely love to hear from you.

Hi jenmar,

There are a couple of people that make quality sump systems, the question sis how much are you willing to spend. Lifereef.com makes the premier sumps, they come with a premier price and premier waiting list too. His systems can be basic custom boxes to complex sumps that include skimmers and ca reactors, just depends on your needs. For an overflow box, I would definitely go with the Lifereef overflow.

My Reef Creations is also making a sump (or 2 maybe) these days. There are also many other glass and acrylic fabricators willing to make something that is customized for your system. If your not familiar with sumps you might try to contact them for some ideas. Building your own can be pretty simple too. Just find a standard size aquarium that fits under your tank, insert some baffles and your ready to go (do a search on "baffles" for more information). There are lots of options available today.
