Like a jacuzzi in my sump!

I have a 29 gallon tank with a 10 gallon sump. I'm using a Durso standpipe running through a one inch bulkhead.

For some reason my sump is a bubbling cauldron where the water enters the sump. The pipe is submerged about 2 inches. I added a T and some additional PVC to disperse the outletof water. That helped a little, but it's still out of control.

Does anyone have any ideas??

What problem is it causing, bubbles being returned to the display? If so, do you have any baffles to help diffuse them before the return pump?

The bubbles aren't too bad, and yes I do have baffles.

It's really loud, it literally sounds like a jacuzzi. It seems like there is a lot of air coming out.

You could try putting a ball valve on your return pipe to regulate the amount you have coming into your sump. What are you using for a return pump?

The amount of air coming through the pipe is typical is your using a Durso or Stockman standpipe. Mine too makes some noise but I don't know of a way to reduce it.

I added a couple of filter bags to the outlet, and it cut down the noise by about 90%. Not to mention getting rid of most of the bubbles.

It's a pretty amazing difference. Thanks to everyone for your replies.
