NEED HELP, Now PLEASE
OK, im having a problem, can a person put two sumps on 1 tank. I have a wet/dry hooked up to my 55 gal and NOW i just put a 10 gal refuguim on it.
Both units are using overflows and rio 2100 pumps for a return. I just cant get the refuguim to come to a consistant water level. The pumps either pumps too fast or the siphon flows top fast. The refuguim has a ball valve on the pump and the over flow and I still can't get the water to enter and exit evenly. Been trying for two days now!!! The wet dry syatem I have no problem with. Is there another trick??

I have only heard of two basic ways to plumb a refugium:
(1) The refugium has a small pump that draws water directly from the aquarium and the outflow from the refugium gravity flows back into the aquarium. This is used for a refugium that is located next to or above the aquarium. (2) The refugium receives its water supply via a plumbing line that taps into the main drain from the tank. A ball valve regulates the amount of water that is diverted to the refugium but the main bulk of the water is routed to the sump. Then the outflow from the refugium gravity flows back into the sump. There may be other schemes but I haven't given them any thought. ![]()

marxsman,
Each system has it's own overflow and return? I don't think you'll ever get that to work. As Ninong mentioned, these are about the only two methods for plumbing a refugium... |

Wel guys, I got it figured out, thanks.
By the way, it is impossible to have two overflows on one tank. found that out the hard way. I actually used one overflow out of the tank to the refugium and then it overflows into the wet/dry. I got it all done and also tested it for a power failure and the water stops moving and comes back on when the power starts again.
