    Question protein skimmer

I just bought a euro-reef skimmer. How do I get my foam level right and when do I know its right? How much foam should be in the cup?It has an adjustable riser pipe. If have it all the down foam does not reach the cup
"lift pipe" so foam is right to the top.But eventually it filled the cup all the way up. Anybody with some help would be great

    thank you

How long have you had the skimmer?
I have found that it might take at least a week before you can get a skimmer really tuned up!! You just have to keep an eyeball on it and keep adjusting till the skimmer itself "slimes up". It'll come to you!!

charlie it right, just give it some time. Skimmers need an opportunity to build up a bit of a coating on the internal walls that will help foam production. It sounds like you need to give it a bit to break-in and while doing so, determine what the optimal setting is for your system. The amount of foam production should be at least a cup full per week.

Yup, I'd just set it so it collects a full cup every 3 days to a week. If it's really watery, lower the riser a little. Don't collect much in a day - drop it.

What size tank? Lots of fish/coral or just a little?

But I'd set it to fill the cup at least once a week, probably would lean towards twice personally.
