new 125 gallon - overflows?

Hello. I just got a great deal on a 125 gallon tank from a friend (for almost nothing). I've had a successful freshwater tank for years and want to try a saltwater tank. The tank that I have doesn't have overflows (beggers can't be choosers). I'd like to have a sump though. Is it possible to pump water out of the tank and then pump it back in without the overflows? I'd like to start with fish only, then slowly work into a full blown reef. Any suggestions?

Cpr makes a hang on overflow box that works rather well, IME. Either Premium Aquatics or Marine Depot sells them. I have 1 on my 80 and 1 on my 75 gallon fuge. Get the aqualifter pump that comes with them to keep the siphon up, and you shouldn't have any problems!!

Don't use a pump to feed the sump, if the power fails, it will siphon out all the water in the top tank. Well at least till it gets to the pumps level. THat USUALLY means a BIG OLE MESS! Better get an overflow like a CPR, I have 1 on my 90 and it works great!

OH ya.... WELCOME TO REEFLAND!
