    Question Sump/refugium for 125 g

    Hi,
Has any one used Sump(wetdry filter/skimmer) with small refugium attached with live sand/caulerpa in it? My LFS has agreed to design me one for my 125 gl and its going to cost me about 800.
Need some advice if this is excellent idea or not? so far I had all HOT filters/skimmers and it worked best for my 55 gl but now that I am moving to 125 gl I don't want to keep whole line of filteration hanging in back.

    Let me know.
    thx

I think you have the right idea incorporating a sump/refugium however for $800 I'd rather just do it myself. Buy you a tank and all the materials to cut/glue acrylic baffles in it and make your own.

Yes I agree! You can buy a 55 gal tank for about $80 and cut some plexiglass dividers and silicone them in. Just remember to use sandpaper to rough up the glass where the silicone will be applied. When finished sanding, clean off the surface with acetone (do not use this on the acrylic!!!). This will ensure adhesion... To save a couple bucks you can use a non-toxic 100% silicone sealant by NAPA, part #765-1336. This comes in a caulking gun size tube for $10 compaired to a small tube at the pet store for $8. This link shows the plans for my tank and sump but it will give you an idea of a layout...... Hope that helped..... http://www.reefland.com/forum/attach...achmentid=4830

    Thumbs up

That is awesome layout!!! Very impressive, now I will definately make that myself and invest that money for better protein skimmer.

    Thanks a lot Greg.
