My Aquabee 2000/1 pump is dead!
I have a turbofloter protein skimmer with an aquabee pump. The pump has died or least creates very few bubbles. I can't find a replacement anywhere for it and I cleaned it a couple of weeks ago and that helped a little. What pump would be comparable. The aquabee has an air line directly attached to it that creates the air bubbles before they get sent up the tube into the skimmer. The other pumps that I have looked at do not do this. There has to be an air inlet that attaches to the tube to create the bubbles at that point. I am not sure how that works but that is the best description I could get at my lfs. Any help would be appreciated considering that I am basically going skimmerless at this point.

Aqua-medic does not import the Aqua-bee pump anymore, they now use there own brand, Oceanrunner. The replacment model you want is the OR2700. It performs better than the previous pump(aquabee).

I went out and bought the Oceanrunner but it is not the same as the aquabee. The aquabee had an inlet for the air and the oceanrunner 2700 does not. I now have a circulation pump with a needle wheel. That really does not help me any. I was told the 2700 is just a 2500 with a needle wheel but I was also told it would work the same. What gives. My skimmer is in bad shape and my tank is soon to follow. |

If you got the regular or2500 circulation pump, than you bought the wrong pump. What you need is labeled as the OR 2700. It is based on the 2500PH, not the OR2500 Circulation pump. The OR2700 comes with a venturi on the input of the pump. Your dealer should be able to get the proper pump from Aqua-Medic with a quick phone call.

I eventually found an aquabee that was still at a local fish store. I am now back in business. I had emailed aquamedic and they explained what I needed. Unfortunately, there was some confustion at the lfs and I ended up with the wrong one. I could not check it at the store because it was sealed and I was told that it was the right one and the box marking was wrong. Anyway, they took care of me and had the aquabee in stock so I got that one instead.
