the best pump made.
hey i have a sedra 12000 pump. this pump is so quiet. i have had it for going on 10 years and its worked great never have done anything to it just reg. cleanning. the head pressure is rated to 20ft. at the head it pumps 1200gal per hour. at 6ft it is at 1150gph. i have never seen a pump that has this same power, but never hear about sedra pumps. just wondering why, it seems to out perform every other pump and it lasts forever. is there a better pump, i dont think so, what do you think????

I think you are lucky to have gotten such a reliable pump. With most of them it's hit or miss on life and things of that nature but if you look around there are some very good pumps that get some very good reviews. My euro reef has a sedra 5k pump on it and so far I have no complaints.

yeah thats what i mean no one really knows about them. i bought mine in 1996 at the LFS. there max head pressure is 20ft. and i must say they the one i have is the quietest pump i have heard. just dont know why i dont see more or hear more about them. i also have a ehiem thats real nice too. but the sedra keeps its flow rate at "pressure" at six feet where as the closest one losses a good 300gph ish. just seems wierd.

The only experience I have with Sedra pumps is on Euro-Reef or ASM protein skimmers. Although, I have heard Sedra, Dolphin, and one other compnay I can't remember now are all the exact same, made in the same Chinese factory, just relabeled with different brand names.

i thought that when i first saw the dolphin. found out they use the same manufacture in korea for the outer mold, but the internal workings are not the same at all. here is something from them.
"AquariumPros.com sells seven different Dolphin Tank Master Submersible water pumps. They are the DP70, DP115, DP270, DP385, DP560, DP800 and DP1200. Top Priorities in the manufacturing of these pumps were versatility, durability, efficiency, quiet operation, and high performance at an economical price. For those of you familiar with "Sen" or "Sedra" aqua pumps, be assured that DP Series pumps are not similar except for external mold similarities. Dolphin has a partnership with the same factory that produced the "Sen & Sedra" pumps for the North American market. They have an exclusive partnership with our South Korean friends in which changes in Impeller design, wattage, performance, and product quality were made over the older designs that were sold under the Sen & Sedra product names." never tried dolphin, how are they? i think i might get 4-5 of these bad boys "the sedra". the one thing though is the my LFS dosent sell the sedra anymore. i only see them at a few places on the net. i was just amazed when i looked at my notes and found i had this pump for going on what will be 10years with perfect running and no issues. i want to get a few more before i cannt get one anymore. anyway i just wanted anyone one looking for a good pump to know about these and my expirence with them. |

A pretty subjective question for sure. I have heard Iwaki are very quiet and reliable. I have one on order for my skimmer. I will give a little review when its been running for a while....
