Coralife Skimmers
Coralife Needle Wheel Super Protein Skimmer
Does any one have any experience with these skimmers? I am getting equipment together for a drilled 75 reef and want to avoid all the learning expense I had with the 55. So far: Drilled All-Glass 75 with MegaFlow Perfecto Sedona Cabinet 2 X 250w 10,000k MH 4 50 lb bags Southdown Last edited by Cuda3; 08-30-2005 at 06:19 PM. |

Hi Cuda
![]() Coralife is generally a lower cost/grade market items, however needlewheel skimmers are some of the best skimmers on the market. I am not familiar with this skimmer at all, and personally would shy away from it unless I found others that have used this skimmer as well as other comparable needlewheel skimmers such as the ASM, Euroreefs, etc and compared them to the price. I did notice that on one site they rated this Coralife skimmer to up to a 65g tank and most skimmer manufacturers overrate their skimmers so I would look for something a little bit bigger too. I also think this skimmer would be bulky and an eyesore as a HOB skimmer but it can be used as a sump skimmer wich from the sounds of it thats the way you are going right? If so good move! btw was this a typo? Quote:

Typo
Yes it was a typo. What I meant was 2 X 250w with 10,000k bulbs and I will put everything in a sump.
Thanks for the info. |

I have the Coralife Super Skimmer that is rated at 65g on my 55g FOWLR tank and for the price I paid for it I couldn't be happier. I was using a Prizm (I know, I know) and if I was lucky I would have to empty the collection cup once every 2 weeks...and then it just looked like tea colored water. After 12 hours of having the Coralife Super Skimmer on my tank it had pulled out half a cup of THICK, DARK, FOWL SMELLING, coffee-like substance and has been kicking butt ever since. For the $85 + shipping that I spent on this skimmer I couldn't be any more happy.
Hope this helps, Bradd

Thanks for all the replies. I think I am going to try the Coralife skimmer. I have one of their R/O systems and it seems to work just fine.
