Coralife skimmer

Ive got the brand new coralife 120 needle wheele skimmer it works great i love it but i have a question on the skimmed matter that comes out of it- it seems that the skimmer collection is a lot, i fill up a 20 oz bottle up with a mild green water/scum daily, is it doing its job? or should i lower the foam line down to "dry skim" is it called? or is it that i have a lot of organic waste comming out of the water that it just has to be this way here is a pic of my skimmer

Josh,

That is a debatable question for sure. Some people like to skim "wet" meaning that they pull a lighter colored liquid from the skimmer more often. Others like to skim dark or "dry", meaning they get a very thick, dark nasty smelling product less often. I think the happy medium is in between but if your tank is doing well then all is well.

Josh,

How difficult, or easy, was it to setup that skimmer initally? I just recieved the 65gal model and plan on putting it on a 20gal tank this week or next. Have heard both good and bad reports on the Super Skimmers, mostly good though it seems.

I like a dryer foam myself... I would try and get that skimmer plumb though, I'll bet that lean to the back has some effects on it....

it was basically plug and play i have nothing bad to say about any of coralife's products. just about everything they sell is so user friendly. it is verry simple to adjust, as simple as turining the shower knob on to how mush flow you want. and as far as the pump, wow this baby is quiet, reliable, and the venturi puts out a whopping ammount of a very, very, fine mist of bubbles, and the way the inlet inside the chamber two spouts pointed in a 45 deg angle keeps the air swriling up for longer air to water interaction. so i would say if the 65 gal works as well as my 120 then you will be verry pleased with it.
