"Tidal Marine"

I'm looking at sand online, and found this brand. I've never heard of it, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with it. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...+113013+113133

Tidal Marine Substrates
And how about these claims? I don't know much about Seachem brand.

well, judging by the names that both products share (meridian, gray coast, etc) i'd say that tidal marine is the private label version of seachems
stuff for fosters and smith.

So those would make decent substrates?

seachems been around for a while now and has a fairly decent rep,
so they should be fine for our use. i'm an all natural oolitic aragonite
(southdown) guy and have never bought any of these types of substrates
so i can't help you there. but one thing is that the claims of adding calcium
and stabilizing PH aren't quite accurate. if the PH is low enough to dissolve the substrate (7.6 or so) you have other problems that sand won't fix.

Ok, thanks! I was trying to make sure it wasn't some crackpot company! I'm gonna try their "grey coast" and see what happens. I'm going for a different look for an upcoming 10-gal. mantis tank, and I think a dark grey/black substrate would be kinda cool, with a blue background.
