Power Head Suction Cups
I've read several threads with creative ways to mount power heads, but my question is does anyone know of a place online where I could order extra suction cups? I can get them at the LFS but they are quite expensive. Looking for a place where I can buy a bunch at a decent price. These are for MJ 1200 power heads.

Hi Fred,
Take a look at some of our sponsors, I just looked at Marine Depot and they offer them 4 for $2.95. |

I went to the sponsors page and all I see is a big blank spot. Nothing there.

Thanks. Yes, I use firefox, and I use norton with the highest settings. Blocks most all ads.
I disabled it though and still didn't see them. That's a decent deal on them I suppose. Better than the LFS. I'll be ordering a bunch. Might have to do something else too in the way of keeping those powerheads in place. |

Usually soaking the cups in vinegar and scrubbing them with a toothbrush will help extend their useful life for a while.

I read in some threads here about people who use the power cords to somewhat help stabilize them. I assume that means tightening them up to some extent. And one guy mentioned using some type of underwater glue.

I don't think I would use any kind of glue because the pumps themselves should be cleaned often. Using the cords as they hang over the back or sides of the tank is anotehr method but you have to have some way to catch the cord so it holds the powerhead up.

IME the cups don't last long at all. Maxi jet has a mounting bracket that clips on to the edge on the tank and you can aim the direction and move it up and down on the track that comes with it. They work pretty good. I also use the tension method on the cords to some extent. I have a powerhead in my 75 gallon right in the middle of the tank. The cord is draped over the center brace and the force of rushing water out of the PH keeps it in place but I also taped the cord on the center brace and stuck it inbetween the stand and the side of the tank to make sure it didn't move.
